Blue Canyon Country Club, at the northern
end of the beautiful island of Phuket, is recognized as being
the most exclusive golfing establishment in the region. It is
surrounded by freshwater lakes and has facilities to match any
of the world's leading golf resorts.
The land that the Canyon Course has been built on was originally
used for tin mining but it is the belief of may people that the
land was naturally made for a golf course.
In an age when many of Asia's new golf courses are little more
than man made monstrosities, the Blue Canyon developers and course
designer, Mr. Yoshikazu Kato, went out of their way to ensure
that interference with nature was minimal. In construction, only
250,000 cubic meters of earth was moved - only a tenth of the
average for a modern course. What has been created in a masterpiece
of golf course design with spectacular and daunting natural hazards,
plus acres of lake accentuated by towering trees.
It's not only the course, which leaves an impression, for the
clubhouse is nothing if lavish. With forty-eight superb guestrooms,
excellent dining facilities offering Thai, Japanese and Continental
cuisine and the opulently designed changing facilities, it is
without equal in Asia. |
