Phuket is in Thailand's South in the Andaman sea. It is as most know the largets Island in Thailand and is freqiestly compared in size with Singapore. I myself must take that for granted as I have never had the opportunity or wherewithall to compare them. Phuket is however as mountainous as it is beachy (is there even such a word?). The highest, Mai Thao Sip ,is 529 meters above the Andaman. In olden times - in fact just before BT - before tourists to the general reader - Phuket made its money from rubber and palm oil plantations. Nowadays Phuket is simply covered with luxury resorts, people from round the world and locals - read anybody Thai. The Thai's main source of income is from said tourists and they will go to many lengthts to separate them from it. Some of these activities are legal and moral, many not so. Probably the most popular and crowded of all of Phuket's beaches is Patong. Here you will find a lot of action, food, bars, lady boys, Thai kick boxing, tailors you name it. Oh yes, there is a nice beach too. But lest we forget, there are plenty of other great beaches on Phuket Island. Plus there is something for everyone on all tips of Phuket. Diving, boating, snorkeling, relaxing, you name it, Phuket;s got it. And some of the Islands are attractions in their own right. The Phi Phi Islands will be subjects of another Phuket story.
